Focus Groups
The purpose of the focus groups is to share information and expertise concerning issues of interest to all IHS, tribal, and urban (I/T/U) organizations regardless of their selected electronic health record (EHR) solution. All health care entities utilize and depend upon EHRs and related health information technology for virtually all aspects of their operations. The IHS and its tribal and urban partners have many common concerns and priorities that are independent of the particular enterprise EHR solution they may use. The focus groups will provide forums for I/T/U entities to meet and discuss these shared issues, with the opportunity for all to come away with information of value to their organizations. Initial focus groups will cover the following topic areas, but more will be stood up as needed:
- Health IT Implementation: Help understand the lessons learned, challenges, and strategies used by other organizations to modernize their health IT capabilities
- Interoperability: Review and suggest strategies, operational requirements, clinical practice standards, and performance measures that inform the interoperability solution design and project planning
- Data Management and Analytics: Review and suggest strategies that support effective data use, security and privacy controls, and standards
Participation in focus group sessions is open to all I/T/U organizations. Tribal and urban Indian subject matter experts can email modernization@ihs.gov to participate in a focus group of interest. Please submit name, title, credentials, Tribe or organization, email address, and desired focus group(s). Vendors cannot participate. Participation is not limited to one focus group.
