One of the central principles of the Indian Health Service (IHS) Health Information Technology (IT) Modernization Program is to build and operate the enterprise electronic health record (EHR) solution, PATH EHR, with our partners, not for them.
The IHS extends an invitation for our partners to join in the journey to implement PATH EHR using a framework that promotes collaboration through the following:
The purpose of focus groups is to share information and expertise concerning issues of interest to all IHS, tribal, and urban (I/T/U) organizations regardless of their selected EHR solution. Initial focus group topics will cover health IT implementation, interoperability, and data management and analytics.
All IHS facilities will be implementing PATH EHR. We invite our partners to complete a non-binding SOI to help understand which tribal and urban sites are interested in becoming part of IHS’s enterprise EHR solution partnership. The SOI asks for limited details about those organizations, such as facility size, current EHR utilization, and point(s) of contact. The SOI may be submitted by email to modernization@ihs.gov. There is no deadline for submitting the form
The ECG will be a user-focused body that informs the enterprise EHR system configuration in clinical and administrative areas. The ECG will review evidence-based practices and provide recommendations for the enterprise EHR solution’s design and configuration. PATH EHR will be configured collaboratively by expert users from participating IHS federal facilities, Tribes, and urban Indian organizations. The ECG will be comprised of Domain Groups representing a wide variety of clinical and business areas. For questions about the ECG, please email IHSHealthITECG@ihs.gov.
