What capabilities will the modernized health information technology solution enhance or introduce?
PATH EHR will enhance capabilities beyond the current RPMS, its anticipated functions include:
- Improved provider access to patient health records and data across IHS, tribal, and urban health care facilities
- Enhanced interoperability with private, state, and federal health partners, and compatibility with state and federal public health reporting systems
- Upgraded features for accurately measuring, assessing, and visualizing population health status, including clinical quality measures
- Expanded access to services for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) people through telehealth in IHS, tribal, and urban programs
- Advanced capabilities for billing and collection for health care services provided to AI/AN people
Can PATH EHR share patient information with other health systems?
Yes, PATH EHR will enable sharing information with other private sector referral networks and other government providers such as other government agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), to improve coordinating care across health agencies.
How will historical patient data be accessed?
Historical patient data will be accessible through secure and compliant data protocols, ensuring providers can easily retrieve and use past health records.
Will the new solution improve the transfer of patient records?
Yes, the PATH EHR will enhance the transfer and accessibility of patient records across IHS and participating tribal and urban partners and ensure interoperability with referral networks.
Can sites view patient data from other IHS, tribal, and urban Indian organizations?
Sites will have access to view and exchange patient data from other IHS, tribal, and urban Indian health facilities via the Health Information Exchange (HIE), enhancing data accessibility to improve understanding of patient health history.
Is there a resource to check if PATH EHR can interface with other EHR systems?
Yes, the HIE will ensure PATH EHR shares information with commercial EHR systems used by different Tribes and community partners.
