Cultural Competence
According to SAMHSA, cultural competence is being "respectful and responsive to the health beliefs and practices - and cultural and linguistic needs - of diverse population groups" and able to "interact effectively with people of different cultures." Awareness of culture and terminology is essential in providing the best care to Two-Spirit/LGBTQI+ patients.
