2023-2027 Office of Urban Indian Health Programs Strategic Plan
The Indian Health Services (IHS) Office of Urban Indian Health Programs (OUIHP) 2023-2027 Strategic Plan describes how the OUIHP will achieve its mission and vision through five strategic pillars to support urban Indian organizations. Each pillar is supported by goals and objectives. The development of the 2023-2027 OUIHP Strategic Plan was in collaboration with urban Indian organizations, the IHS, and Urban stakeholders.
OUIHP Vision
Together with our valued urban Indian organization partners, the IHS strives to develop health care solutions that fit the diverse circumstances of American Indians and Alaska Natives residing in urban areas, while ensuring accountability. The IHS seeks to support the 41 urban Indian organizations in their efforts to improve capacity and to lay the groundwork to serve American Indians and Alaska Natives in other urban communities. The five guiding pillars of the 2023-2027 OUIHP Strategic Plan are:
- Provide effective, timely, and transparent communication,
- Improve OUIHP’s operational oversight and management,
- Leverage partnerships to expand urban Indian organization resources
- Improve data quality, and
- Expand the infrastructure and capacity of urban Indian organizations.
