The IHS published a strategic plan and briefing book that lays out goals and objectives for preventing suicide in Indian Country.
The downloadable National Suicide Prevention Strategic Plan, 2011–2015 [PDF - 1.5 MB] addresses suicide prevention through fostering collaborations across the entire Indian Health Service. The strategic plan is an integrated approach to reducing the loss and impact of suicide and suicide related behaviors. The plan highlights multiple disciplines, perspectives, and resources to create a system in which services can be accessed by individuals, families, schools, and communities.
