Certified Nurse Midwife

Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) specialize in gynecologic health, reproductive and sexual health, family planning, primary care, preconception counseling, and maternity care from the first prenatal visit through the postpartum period. CNMs provide care starting at adolescence continuing throughout one's lifespan. CNMs enjoy a full scope practice and work in both inpatient and outpatient settings in IHS. CNM positions are critical to elevating the health and well-being of pregnant American Indian and Alaska Native patients and their families.
