IHS Celebrates Veterans and their Stories

by Roselyn Tso, Indian Health Service Director

I am deeply honored that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has recognized the service of my father, the late Alvin C. Tso, a Korean War veteran whose dedication reflects the selflessness of all veterans. One of my greatest accomplishments is continuing his legacy by working alongside the VA to support American Indian and Alaska Native veterans. To our Native veterans within the IHS family and throughout Indian Country, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. Your service to our nation and the sacrifices made by your families are deeply cherished. At IHS, your well-being is a top priority—a mission that holds personal significance for me.

I am mindful of the physical and emotional scars many veterans carry, and the ultimate sacrifices made by countless families. IHS remains steadfast in its commitment to honor your service by providing exceptional care in partnership with the VA, always respecting Native culture. This November, I invite you to join us in celebrating our veterans, especially those among our IHS staff, as they share their stories. Your contributions inspire us to ensure that all Native veterans receive the care and recognition they so greatly deserve. Thank you for your service.
