COVID-19 Booster Eligibility
Every American age 5 and older is now eligible for a booster shot. CDC recommends that children ages 5-11 years should receive a booster shot 5 months after their initial Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination series. CDC also strengthened its recommendation that those 12 and older who are immunocompromised and those 50 and older should receive a second booster dose at least 4 months after their first.
Boosters offer enormous protection against serious illness, including hospitalization and death. As COVID-19 cases are going up, it is critical for every American to get a booster shot as soon as they are eligible. Boosters are free, widely available across the country, and they could save your life. If you got fully vaccinated in December 2021 or earlier, go get your first booster shot right away to ensure you have the highest degree of protection for the summer. And, if you are eligible for a second booster—get one as soon as possible.
Parents, please get your child their booster shot as well—and if your child hasn’t received their primary series, do so immediately and have the peace of mind that your children are protected.
Contact your local IHS, tribal, or urban Indian organization health care facility today to stay up to date on your vaccines. If you are not near an IHS, tribal, or urban Indian organization facility, you can visit vaccines.gov to find free vaccines near you.
