2021-2022 Flu Season
Protect yourself, your family, and your community by getting your annual flu vaccination today. Influenza, or the flu, is a serious contagious respiratory illness. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting vaccinated every year. People who get the flu shot miss less work due to the flu and are less likely to be hospitalized because of the flu.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, getting the flu shot is especially important to reduce the impact of respiratory illnesses on the health care system. Everyone 6 months and older is recommended for an annual flu vaccination, with additional emphasis placed on those at higher risk for COVID-19 complications, including American Indian and Alaska Native populations and adults with underlying illnesses.
Flu and COVID-19 vaccines can be given at the same time. If you have not already received your COVID-19 vaccine, you are encouraged to get it along with the flu vaccine. Contact your local IHS, tribal, or urban Indian organization health care facility today to ask about vaccine availability near you.
