October is National Physical Therapy month. Physical rehabilitation practitioners began to work in the Indian Health Services in the early 1960s. Physical therapists partner with patients, their families, and other health care providers to manage pain. Physical therapy staff at the Indian Health Service provide specialty care in diabetes, geriatrics, wound care, pediatrics, specialty hand and foot care, health promotion and wellness programs, orthopedics, neurological rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, amputee rehabilitation, pain clinics, and clinical education
