The Indian Health Service (IHS) is accepting applications for grants for the Behavioral Health Integration Initiative (BH2I) to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate behavioral health integration with primary care, community-based settings, and/or integrating primary care, nutrition, diabetes care, and chronic disease management with behavioral health.
The notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) announcement for the BH2I Program was announced via the Federal Register on November 4, 2021. Tribes, Tribal organizations, and Urban Indian organizations (UIOs) are now able to apply for these grant funding opportunities via Grants.gov.

The deadline for application submission is: February 2, 2022
Eligibility
To be eligible for this funding opportunity, applicants must be one of the following:
- A Federally-recognized Indian Tribe
- A Tribal organization
- An Urban Indian organization

Award Information
Behavioral Health Integration Initiative (BH2I)
- Funding Instrument: Grant
- Estimated Funds Available: $6,000,000
- Anticipated Award Amount: Individual award amounts for the first budget/project year are anticipated to be between $300,000 and $400,000.
- Anticipated Number of Awards: Approximately 15 awards will be issued under this program announcement.
- Period of Performance: 5 years
The amount of funding available for competing and subsequent continuation awards is subject to availability of appropriations and budgetary priorities of the Agency.

Join this webinar, facilitated by Sister Sky Inc., to learn more about the components and requirements for completing a successful BH2I grant application. Participants will review strategies to improve grant writing and grant management skills. The webinar will also share best practices, tips, and tricks to manage a BH2I grant successfully. This is the first of three in a series.

Pre-Award Technical Assistance Request Process Steps
- STEP 1: Visit the BH2I Toolkit Website; to make your TA request.
This process is necessary to ensure that tracking, response, and appropriate assistance are provided. - STEP 2: Receive TA Request Confirmation
Once the request is made, you’ll receive a response within 24 hours. - STEP 3: Receive Individualized TA
A TA support team will assist in a collaborative approach to identify the needs - STEP 4: Implementation of Action Plan
A collaborative plan will be developed to provide technical support.
