HUD/IHS Joint Consultation on Sanitation Facilities

Description

To further the goals of E.O. 14112 (2023) HUD and IHS will host a joint virtual Tribal Consultation related to DTLLs dated September 10 and November 14, 2024 (https://www.ihs.gov/newsroom/triballeaderletters/)

Currently, the IHS is prohibited by annual appropriations language from using Sanitation Facilities Construction (SFC) program funding to provide water and sewer infrastructure for new homes constructed using HUD grants.  HUD and the IHS are seeking Tribal input on how Federal resources for affordable housing and water and sewer infrastructure can best be delivered to Tribal communities, including comments on the funding prohibition.
