BACKGROUND
The purpose of this Transmittal Notice (TN) is to transmit a copy of the Part 8, Chapter 21, "Access Control," Indian Health Manual (IHM). This chapter establishes the policy and procedures for allowing users access to Indian Health Service (IHS) Information Technology (IT) resources. This policy is supplemental to, and the authority for all access management and control existing policies and procedures. The IHS protects information and IT resources by restricting access to government systems to only authorized personnel. Indian Health Service business must not be performed on privately-owned personal equipment unless that equipment was previously authorized by the IHS Chief Information Officer.
