BACKGROUND

The purpose of this Transmittal Notice (TN) is to transmit a copy of the Part 5, Chapter 26, "Conferring with Urban Indian Organizations," Indian Health Manual (IHM). This chapter establishes the Indian Health Service (IHS) policy and procedures pertaining to conferring with Urban Indian Organizations. The IHS will use this conferring policy to ensure that the health care needs of the urban Indian population are considered at the local, Area, and national levels, when implementing and carrying out the Indian Health Care Improvement Act.
