BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this Transmittal Notice (TN) is to forward a copy of the Part 3, Chapter 27, ?Controlling Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Drugs,? Indian Health Manual (IHM). This chapter establishes the policy and procedures necessary to reduce occupational exposure to hazardous drugs. Hazardous drugs are drugs associated with or suspected of causing adverse health effects. Exposure to hazardous drugs is associated with acute health effects, such as skin rashes, chromosomal aberrations, and soft tissue damage, as well as chronic health effects, such as leukemia and adverse reproductive events.
