Notice to Rescind IHM SGM 94-04, "Department's Policy on Processing Complaints Based on Sexual Orientation."

This notice rescinds Indian Health Service (IHS), Indian Health Manual (IHM), Special General Memorandum (SGM,) 94-04, “Department's Policy on Processing Complaints Based on Sexual Orientation.” The IHM, SGM is outdated, and does not align with current Equal Employment Opportunity laws under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, nor does it align with Executive Order (EO) 11478, as amended by EO 13087 and 13672, which prohibits discrimination in Federal employment on the basis of sexual orientation.

Please discard any file copies of IHM, SGM 94-04, “Department's Policy on Processing Complaints Based on Sexual Orientation.” at your earliest convenience.
