DESIGNATION OF VOLUNTEER NON-SERVICE HEALTH CARE PRACTITIONER AS A FEDERAL EMPLOYEE

In accordance with federal law at 25 U.S.C. § 1680c(e) and Indian Health Service (IHS) clinical privileges policies, (name of volunteer), a non-Service health care practitioner, has met the requirements to be granted privileges at (name of service unit) in the IHS (name of Area Office) Area. As part of the privileging process, I designate (name of volunteer) as a federal employee for the purpose of 28 U.S.C. § 1346(b) and §§ 2671-2680 (relating to Federal tort claims), only with respect to acts or omissions which occur in the course of providing services to eligible individuals as a part of the conditions under which such privileges are extended.

This designation becomes effective on the date of signature. The designation shall only be provided during the Public Health Emergency declared by the Secretary of Health and Human Services on January 31, 2020. This letter of designation must be retained in the volunteer’s official file.
