Provider Consultation Clinic

The TBHCE Indian Children’s Program supports the Pediatric Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Health Consultation Clinic. This clinic is designed to support Primary Care Providers, Behavioral Health providers, and other healthcare staff in serving American Indian/Alaska Native youth.

1. What age range is appropriate for consultation?

  • One-year to 23-years old

2. Who is the audience for consultation?

  • Healthcare providers

3. When are consultations scheduled?

Consultations are scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month from:

  • 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm Eastern
  • 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm Central
  • 11:30 am to 2:30 pm Mountain
  • 10:30 am to 1:30 pm Pacific
  • 9:30 am to 12:30 pm Alaska

4. How do I request a consultation?

  • To request a consultation, please email Dr. Chris Fore, and you will be connected to the appropriate subject matter expert.

5. How long do consultations last?

  • Consultations are scheduled for 20 minutes. If you have more than one case or a complex case, please request more than one consultation slot. To make the best use of your time, have all the information and materials needed before the start of your consultation.

  • FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder)
  • ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
  • ADHD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder)

7. How can a consultation help?

  • Clarify and differentiate diagnoses.
  • Provide behavioral intervention recommendations for providers and families.
  • Provide recommendations for additional support and resources for the child and family.
  • Provide recommendations to providers on how to facilitate family meetings with clinic staff.

8. Is there a charge for the consultation?

  • No. The cost is covered by funding from the IHS Indian Children’s Program.

9. Will the consultants document in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)?

  • No. They are not authorized to document in your clinic’s EHR. Any documentation will be entered by the referring clinician. Records of the consultation, including the referral form, will not be retained by the consultant.
