Pilots and Initiatives

The IHS Community Health Representative Program is collaborating with program partners on various IHS Initiatives and activities to support the Indian health system and workforce program efforts. These efforts align with the National CHR Strategic Plan, informing recommendations on CHR integration within systems and teams and sustainability to strengthen the public health and healthcare delivery systems.

Key priority areas of the CHR strategic plan are:

  • Advocacy and Awareness to promote and support the CHR workforce in improving health status, health care system, and service delivery.
  • Partnerships that improve systems of care for AI/AN communities.
  • Sustainability to promote collaboration to support system integration.
  • Workforce Strengthening to support professional development.
  • Data Systems to support clinical, preventive, and public health goals and outcomes.
