    This table consists of census counts for the years 2000, 1990, 1980 and 1970.

    The population counts in this report were taken from the P.L. 94-171 (Voting Rights Act) files released by the State of Alaska on March 16, 2011. Three data files labeled: "ak000012010," "ak000022010" and "akgeo2010" were used to determine community of residence and race.

    The population counts in this report were determined by merging three Census 2000 Redistricting Data (Public Law 94-171) base files for Alaska. They were machine-readable data files published by the U.S. Census Bureau in March 2001 labeled: AK00001, AK00002, and AKGEO. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software was used to merge files and count population at the community level.
