As the Director of the Phoenix Area Office and as a physician, my work with the Indian Health Service has been fulfilling and rewarding. I have been able to achieve my life’s goals of serving American Indian and Alaska Native communities and to live a lifestyle that is meaningful to me and my family. I decided to share my story with the nation because I genuinely believe in the Indian health care system.
The Phoenix Area offers a vast selection of opportunities for places where people may want to work. The geographic variability of Arizona is spectacular. From the bottom of the Grand Canyon to the warmer climates of Yuma and Parker, to the mile high forests of White River – Arizona is magnificent. Across Nevada, tribal clinics are providing excellent health care within a variety of different geographies. Utah offers incredible opportunities to work in rural or urban clinics from Salt Lake City to the beautiful and historic Fort Duchesne.
I wholeheartedly encourage anyone who seeks to serve the mission of improving the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indians and Alaska Natives to join us. No matter where I have worked in the system, in the Great Plains, in the Billings Area, or here in Phoenix – there are countless providers, nurses, pharmacists, who are passionate about the mission of the Indian Health Service. Come - join us.
