IHS Posts "At-a-Glance" Guides for COVID-19 Supplemental Resources

Since 2020, the Indian Health Service has received more than $9 billion in COVID-19 supplemental appropriations funding through six appropriations acts. In an effort to increase transparency and ease of access to critical information on these important resources, the IHS is preparing “At-a-Glance” Guides to each of the COVID-19 supplemental appropriations acts.

Today, I am pleased to report that the agency posted its first At-A-Glance Guide for the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2020 (P.L. 116-260). You can find the guide here, or under the resources section of ihs.gov/coronavirus. The guide includes information on the:

  • Purpose of Funding;
  • Appropriating Statute;
  • Key Activities Authorized by the Statute;
  • Amount Provided to the IHS;
  • Period of Availability;
  • Dates of Tribal Consultation and Urban Confer;
  • Links to Letters to Tribal and Urban Indian Organization Leaders;
  • Allocation Methodology;
  • Financial Reporting Requirements; and
  • Reimbursement of Allowable Costs.

The IHS will also post similar compilations for all COVID-19 supplemental appropriations Act by July 28, 2023. The agency is posting these compilations to increase transparency and ease of access to critical information for important funding sources.
