For Providers
New Resources: Obstetric Readiness in the Emergency Department (ObRED) and Pediatric Primary Care Toolkit – available now!
The IHS Maternal Child Health program has developed two new resources to assist sites with obstetric readiness and pediatric preventive care services:
The Obstetric Readiness in the Emergency Department (ObRED) Manual [PDF 3.5 MB] includes tools and training to help sites without immediate access to Labor and Delivery services provide safe care for pregnant and postpartum patients. The manual includes readiness checklists, clinical protocols, and education for simulation training.
The The Pediatric Primary Care Toolkit [PDF 1.8 MB] includes resources to help sites provide age-appropriate preventive care for children. The toolkit includes a site self-assessment tool, age-specific guidelines, checklists, and EHR templates, and resources for staff and families.
Both resources were developed by a multidisciplinary team across eight IHS Areas and reviewed at urban and rural sites. The MCH team is also available by email if you have any questions.
