Transmittal Notice 24-06
BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this Transmittal Notice (TN) is to transmit a copy of the revised Part 3, Chapter 34, “Suicide Prevention and Care,” Indian Health Manual (IHM). Indian Health Service health care providers, including employees, are trusted with the responsibility to improve the health and wellbeing of patients presenting with suicidal ideation or suicide related behaviors. Suicide is a serious public health problem among American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN). According to Center for Disease Control data, AI/AN die by suicide at a disproportionately higher rate in comparison to other racial and ethnic groups.

Remove Part 3, Chapter 34, “Suicide Prevention and Care,” IHM, dated February 6, 2019 in its entirety and insert the attached copy of Part 3, Chapter 34, “Suicide Prevention and Care,” IHM, including the chapter Table of Contents in its place.
Log and file this Transmittal Notice in sequential order.
