BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this Transmittal Notice (TN) is to transmit a copy of the revised Part 3, Chapter 32, State Prescription Drug Monitoring Program," Indian Health Manual (IHM). This chapter is revised in its entirety. The purpose of this chapter is to establish and define participation of the Indian Health Service with State Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs. This policy was established for prescribers and pham1acists to monitor and deter prescription medication misuse, abuse, addiction and diversion, and ensure appropriate clinical care.

Remove Part 3, Chapter 32, "State Prescription Drug Monitoring Program," IHM, dated June 30 2016, and discard. Insert the attached copy of Part 3, Chapter 32, "State Prescription Drug Monitoring Program," IHM, including the chapter Table of Contents, in its place.
Log and file this TN in sequential order.
