Transmittal Notice 23-01

BACKGROUND:

The purpose of this Transmittal Notice (TN) is to transmit a copy of the revised Part 3, Chapter 7, “Pharmacy,” Indian Health Manual (IHM). This policy is intended to identify the basic requirements for Indian Health Services (IHS) pharmacies to ensure both consistency of care and safety, and efficiency of IHS pharmacies throughout IHS and the continued advancement of IHS pharmacy as an industry leader. This revised chapter updates the standards for pharmacy security, inventory, electronic medical records, and compliance with new regulations governing pharmacy practices.

MATERIAL TRANSMITTED:

Part 3, Chapter 7, “Pharmacy” IHM.

MATERIAL SUPERSEDED:

Part 3, Chapter 7, “Pharmacy,” IHM dated October 22, 2018.

MANUAL MAINTENANCE:

Remove the current copy of Part 3, Chapter 7, “Pharmacy,” dated October 22, 2018 and discard. Insert the attached copy of Part 3, Chapter 7, “Pharmacy” IHM, to include the chapter Table of Contents, in its place. Log and file this TN in sequential order.
