BACKGROUND:

The purpose of this Transmittal Notice (TN) is to forward a copy of the new Part 3, Chapter 1, ?Medical Credentials and Privileges Review Process,? Indian Health Manual (IHM).  This chapter establishes the policy and procedures for medical staff credentialing and clinical privileging of health care providers working in Indian Health Service (IHS) health facilities.

MANUAL MAINTENANCE:

Remove and discard the current copies of the Circulars No. 96-06, Errata Notice - IHS Circular 95-16, ?Credentials and Privileges Review Process for the Medical Staff,? dated 06/05/1996, and Circular No. 95-16, ?Credentials and Privileges Review for the Medical Staff,? dated 12/8/1995, your manual system binders.

Insert the attached copy of the revised Part 3, Chapter 1, IHM, in its proper place.
