BACKGROUND
This is to transmit a copy of the revised Indian Health Manual (IHM), Part 3, Chapter 17, "Emergency Medical Services (EMS)." The Indian Health Service (IHS) developed and improved the systems that provide EMS to American Indian/Alaska Native people in parallel with rapidly evolving national standards, with recognition of special circumstances, such as the IHS redesign, and requirements of the population, and areas served.

The revised IHM 3-17, including the Table of Contents, and Manual Exhibits 3-17-A through 3-17-F.
MATERIAL SUPERSEDED
The IHM 3-17, including the Table of Contents, and Manual Exhibits I through IV, dated 03/11/86.
MANUAL MAINTENANCE
Remove and discard the current copies of IHM 3-17 (TN 86.3) from your manual system binders. Insert the attached copy of the revised IHM 3-17, including the chapter Table of Contents and Manual Exhibits 3-17-A through 3-17-F, in its place.
Log and file this TN in sequential order.
