BACKGROUND
This transmittal forwards Part 2, Chapter 3 of the Indian Health Manual which sets forth Division policy, standards and procedures relating to Contract Patient Care. This chapter is being issued in order to meet a need by Division of Indian Health field facilities in executing, standardizing, and providing more uniformity for the Contract Patient Care program. As experience is gained, additional standards and procedures will be prescribed. It is expected that each area will issue, where appropriate, supplements to this chapter to cover special situations in the area, consistent with the policies prescribed by this chapter.
